248 Global Challenge With the weather being so bad on saturday the meeting was run on sunday, and this i think put some drivers off from coming and being so close to the nz superstock champs some would not want any damage.
35 car's did turn up and there was some very fast racing with a little bit of action thrown in.it was good to see 53p kevin roberts back out with his super tanker,71p of kim lace is now in the hands of tony whittaker and once he gets used to the car it looks like it will fly.
Heat 1 started off with a few cars spinning then 42p robin davenport got a bit sideways in heat 1 and hit 95p clive elliot and rolled over(see video further down)52p scott joblin went on to take the win.
heat 2 was really just a strait out drag race and with 559gb craig finnikin starting on pole and racing away for a very good win.
heat 3 was weird with 7p shane penn in the lead late in the race and then hits the pit gate and rolls over,2-3 palmy cars try to stop the 559gb car but keeps going and 52p blasting through to take the win and the Global Challenge.
well done to 52p Scott Joblin for 1st place, 2nd was 559gb Craig Finnikin and 3rd was 31p Andy McCabe who i think after this coming weekend(NZ champs) could have a number change?,we will wait and see.
To be honest the meeting was a little flat.as i said before the weather played a part in some drivers missing the meeting and the NZ's being so close also.but there was somthing missing in this meeting to make it great meeting,i'm not really sure what it is.could have been the lack of cars from north of taupo?not many stirrers?none of the panthers really having a good meeting with all having car trouble?any way lets hope the weather is good for the NZ's at kihikihi and the teams champs.
