PALMERSTON NORTH SPEEDWAY-OPENING NIGHT 2010-11 SEASON

Well what an opening night, the pits had heaps of stockcars and superstocks. It was great to see so many new cars and faces in the stockcar ranks, the ministock class at palmy has realy done its job with heaps of drivers moving up to the stock/superstock class.

First race of the night was for b-grade stockcars and not a bad race either.119p Zac Harris seemed to be the one who wanted to stir the most, hitting anything that came close.66p Graham Peter was having a good race with 42p Jamie Baguley but pulled away near the end to take a good win first up.

Superstocks were up next and there were about 25 for this race. 79p Kerry Humphrey and 3nz Murray Long got the jump on the field for a very fast race that saw 79p the winner and a fast charging 10p Peter Rees in 3rd.it was great to see the tank of Scott Miers out so early in the season and it was flying.

stockcars had the next outing with close to 40 cars racing, there was plenty of hitting going on as the field sorted out the postions with 6v Dion Mooney in the thick of it.15p Rob Miers stayed out of the trouble to take his 1st win of the season.

Superstocks race 2 had another big field of cars with 58p Peter Bengston leading from start to finish but back in the pack 8p was getting spun a few times then near the end of the race 53p Kevin Roberts tank went up in a huge cloud of smoke and didn't look good.

stockcars race 3 and a lot more action this time with 6v and 119p being in most of it.119p Zac Harris might be palmys new stirrer as he seemed to hit anything.5p went on for the win,not sure if Brett Hyslop or Kevin Large was driving.

Stockcar feature and still over 25 cars went out,the action was turned up a notch as 45p Dave Prescott was rolled by 581p Jordan Dare the after the restart 10p Josh Prentice was rolled by 34p Rob Mason just to even the score between the young and old drivers.31p Gary Davis picked up the win.

Superstock feature and this started with a bang as fireworks were let off.all the cars made the first corner safely and the race was fast 10p took the lead as the two front runners got tangled up and 7p Shane Penn took over 2nd spot, with about 2-3 laps to go 43p Daryl Hammond spun 7p.Peter Rees carried on and took the win.

All in all it was a good opening night with enough action to keep me happy for the first meeting of the season.but it did go to long for palmy maybe one less class running might have been good.till next time Wal

saw this dodgy chap there to

ricky garth
