UNDER 23 STOCKCAR CHAMPS
 went to stratford on saturday for the under 23 stockcar champs for the first time and if the action is like that with these young guys racing all the time it wont be my last time i go to this meeting.

35 cars started the 1st heat and it was a fast heat.it seemed cars were going in all directions.10p josh prentice got an early lead but the action was behind him as 12w simon hendry,29m ryan hunt,17w jonas england and 92m scott hayward were fighting over the rest of the placings.

mid way through the heat 17w got a right rear flat and lost placings this left 29m,12w and 35w coming through to finish in that order with 10p taking the win.

with all the rain that has been around lately the track got real rutty witch was a bit of a bugger.

heat 2 was more of the same with plenty of action.with a few car's now out of the running they went in to blocking.after one of the stoppages 10p failed to move and that was the end of his champion hopes.81r damian orr took the win with 95r dale stewart 2nd.i didnt get the rest of the placings but 12w finished well up to be tied on points with 95r going into heat 3.

heat 3 and it was carnage with all the rotorua and baypark cars vs everyone else.12w came under repeated attacks but still carried on 6p nathan ward was doing his best to stop the R cars but just keeped missing the 95r car.

in the end 557p darrell wallace won the race but 95r dale stewart was the new under 23 stockcar champ and a well deserved 12w simon hendry 2nd and 29m ryan hunt 3rd.

it was real great night of stockcar racing and there was a teams race as well between the stratford stormers and the manawatu steelers with the stormers taking the win but it was great to see the steelers racing and well done to them.i hope this will be an annual race between these two teams and maybe raced at palmy next year then back to stratford the next etc.

the other stockcar races had big fields and plenty of hits also so well done stratford.   till next time ceeya Wal
