Woodford Glen Speedway
13-2-10 WOODFORD GLEN 13-2-2010
The Superstocks and Stockcars both got three races each last night at Woodford Glen.
The Superstock field numbered 12 with 1NZ Malcolm Ngatai absent after deciding to race in Wellington only for it to be rained out. 492I Campbell McManaway returned for the first time this season to the Glen and won the first race relatively comfortably from 83C Shane Anderton and 7C Neil Frew. The second heat saw Frew take 27C Peter Field to the turn 1 wall spinning him in the process, this allowed Anderton through to the lead which he held through to the finish, with 47C Nigel Keats second in his first meeting back after being concussed by Brad Rosewarne before Christmas and 42C Kevin Nortman third.
The third race saw a race for the flag, with 83C Shane Anderton taking his second win for the evening ahead of 14C Aaron Rowlands and McManaway third.
There were 20 Stockcars for their three races with a number getting some last track time before heading to Wanganui for the NZ title next weekend. There were a number of good hits throughout the night with 98C Russell Tuuta putting a nice shot on 47C Chris Hall in turn 4 and 107C Colin Cameron spinning 48C Kirk Page hard into the front straight wall. The best hit of the night however saw 25C Hamish Wilson put 7C Warren Galbraith up the back straight wall.
Overall the three wins were shared between Cameron, 17C Vaughan Fairburn and Hall. Cameron and Fairburn looked to be showing good pace all night and hopefully will have a decent shot at qualifying for the 30 car finals at Wanganui.
